Smart farmers know that total input costs through harvest is all that matters when choosing among "liners" or plug starts for mechanical transplanting. A cheap plug suffering 10-20% mortality is an expensive choice when viewed from a total cost perspective. Our seedlings have 4-6 inch tap roots and can withstand the rigors of large scale transplanting.
Not your average "Box Wine, Berry or Cherry" mystery strain. We breed our own lines and hand-select for the best phenotypes to ensure we produce the highest quality cannabis resin hemp seed for discerning farmers and growers.
River Rock 1.0
Our flagship Indica foundation strain. This variety sets the standard for biomass production with many customers reporting plants up to 8 feet tall and weighing over 30 pounds at harvest! Pest resistant and early frost tolerant. Great for topicals and full spectrum oils aimed at body based therapeutic products. |

ship Rock 1.0
Indica leaning variety crossed with our best Acid Rock phenotype of 2018. This cultivar is bushy and dense and noted for early harvest and high yields. This plant can sail through early season cold snaps and high winds. Very good for full spectrum oils for both body and mind therapeutic products. |

Kiva Rock 1.0
The strain is one of our favorites and was bred to extend into lower latitudes with a greater climate adaptation. It is named after the stone dwellings of the pre-pueblo culture that lived near our farm around 1500 BC. Strong as stone and built to last, this variety was among the top biomass producers in our 2019 field trials. |
Rock On 1.0
Rock On was developed for its stunning terpene expression and flower quality. It has a reddish purple tinge complimented by pistils that glow yellow and red. The strain was in the top three of our field trials for biomass as well as CBD yield per acre. This plant exhibited the best balance of size and yield during our 2019 field trials. A real winner. Not available until March 2020. |

Peat Plugs Outperform"Do the Math", deep rooted seedlings are less expensive in all but the highest volume nursery production scenarios.
Unlike fiber and oilseed varieties of industrial hemp which tend to be drilled at high planting densities, CBD-rich varieties tend to be transplanted from nursery-grown planting stock at much lower planting densities, usually around 2000 plants per acre. Wholesale prices for nursery-grown planting stock can range from $2.50-$5.00 per plant, with prices for clones at the upper end of this range. Farms with adequate nursery facilities can produce their own planting stock for much less. However, costs of production in the nursery can vary considerably and the sensible hemp farmer will want to use the most cost-effective methods to produce their planting stock. Chimney Rock Farms has evaluated numerous different nursery production systems for producing field-ready planting stock from feminized seeds. Seedlings produced in Jiffy® forestry pellets grow more vigorously than alternative production systems, producing seedlings that are 50-100% larger than other systems 28 days after sowing. This saves up to two weeks of time in the nursery, cutting fertilizer, labor, and energy costs. Furthermore, field mortality rates of seedlings grown in peat pellets are consistently 10%-20% lower than other nursery production systems after transplanting. This reduces the number of seeds required per acre, or increases numbers of live plants per acre, depending on whether mortality losses are replaced or not. These factors result in costs of production for hemp seedlings grown in peat pellets that are at least 40% lower than other types of nursery production systems. |
